Hi guys. I haven't been on lately as car has been done for over a year. I was wondering though. How could I have a tow hook in the front of the car? I have been pulling it into my trailer and such from the rear. There must be a way.

We pull GTM's into a trailer all the time from the front. Hook the winch to the rear arm of the front LCA right next to the chassis. Stand on the winch cable a few feet out in front of the car to keep the cable from rubbing on the hood. That's how we've always done it.

Dont race cars have to have a front tow hook?

The front chassis tow hooks that I have are both bent under and need attention but isn’t towing what these are for?

Make sure that whatever structure you mount it to is triangulated. While most "tows" are in line with the car, some are at a significant angle, especially a tow on the track, and can distort your front subframe. I cut away my front subframe, but I don't remember it being super robust...Remember, the guy towing you is usually much more interested in getting you off the track ASAP so the session can re-open than being delicate with your pride and joy...

Yes. It is there on the right side and sticks straight up through the hood. Probably not what you would want on your street car.

I'm personally looking to do similar to crash's race setup. I saw a nice GTM not to long ago in pics that went with this approach and I personally liked the look.

On my GTM we made a hole hidden by the hood badge, underneath there the threaded receiver is welded to additional structure supported from the chassis, made in such a way that the pivot/leverage forces won’t be an issue.

The badge itself is attached w duallock, easily removable and then a tow hook can be threaded in. I carry the hook itself velcroed to the back of my seat, I can reach it while belted and hand it to a tow guy if I get stranded and if they want me to stay in the car.

Can add photo tmrw.

Some orgs require to thread it in before driving which is fine too.
