View Full Version : PD Blower
I am upgrading the 350 to a 383 Stroker with modded Vortec 062 casting heads, a Comp Cam Roller kit (.520/.540 on a 110), and Holley EFI. I am looking closely at an Edelbrock 1552 Supercharger kit to add to the mayhem. The kit will fit my heads and my EFI is power adder compatible. We will be running 10.5:1 compression with the setup so I am anticipating going to E85. My question is the Edelbrock uses the long style water pump and a 6 rib pulley. Has anyone mounted a similar setup on a small block chevy? What were the celarance dimensions at the front dampner?

Blowers are ultra cool and anyone that looks at one thinks huge horsepower.... But, If you plan on any type of supercharger/ turbo etc. you want lower compression not higher. 8:0 to one is the area you want to be in because of cylinder pressures and heat. How ever if you run tunable EFI with engine knock sensors you may be able to tune it to something streetable. Just make sure your able to pull the timing back with a program. Super charged engines don't like a lot of timing up high, 26-28 degrees tops. They put enormous loads on bottom ends so build the bottom end with good components. They turn heads everywhere you go. Good luck

With 10.5:1 he will be fine with a PD blower... (depending on how much boost) And if you run E85 you'll be very safe up to higher boost levels.
I believe the main question WRP is asking: is there enough room between the engine and front chassis for the long water pump and 6-rib pulley.
I am using the Eldebrock 15400 on an LS3 at 10.5 to 1 using the Holley Dominator and premium fuel. Not sure if your Sniper can control the advance but think it does and so just a matter of dialing the advance back and changing the AFR table. If the Sniper can't do the advance MSD sells a ignition box which can pull advance based on manifold pressure.
Plenty of room in the front at least in my set up as the 15400 uses a single belt.
I am pleased with the kit, good quality. There is an active Edelbrock SC group on Facebook that you might check with.

Hoping someone can give a clear answer making plans to order Truck kit (Heard firewall forward is the same) I'm planning on a 6/71 supercharger on a small block Chevy and I wondering if there is room for 2 acc groves and 2-inch drive pully between dampener and rack

I can’t say for certain it will, but here’s my installation of a big block Chevy into the Truck kit with 2x groove pulley and short water pump. A big block is quite a bit longer than an SBC so my guess is yes.

Starting at around page 5 of my build on the forum there’s a variety of views with the engine installed
Hope this helps.
This was a LS and Elde SC in my ride. Lots of room, I am using a Dominator, but your Holley ECM should work fine. 174224
