I don’t know about y’all, but I fought my trunk lid for far too long. I tried heating and forming, I tried using bumpers and just never could get it right. The perfect shape escapes me. I was gonna cut and form some bars (but just bought Tim’s, much easier that way) and glued them in while the lid was weighted down to hold the shape. I took a lot of time to cut and fit spacers all along the edge to get the trunk lid to fit perfectly. It worked like a charm. I highly suggest anyone whose trunk doesn’t fit the shape just right consider doing the same.

Mine bowed in the middle. I made a piece of square tube to bring it down. What's off now is after final paint it doesn't need it. Your idea with the wood pegs is good. My only concern would be wood shrinkage after paint, but it is on underside so not a huge deal

My trunk, after many hours, fit perfect. Looked great after paint with minor adjustment Then when warm weather hit and I parked it in the sun shine it appears that the trunk has bowed up in the middle. Fits well along the top and bottom edges but is 1/4" high along the sides. No amount of adjustment seems to correct the problem. Any suggestions?

I had the exact same problem! I have two possible fixes that will not affect the paint. I don't know if you added a upper trunk to body brace which in effect will raise the front of the trunk allowing the middle of the deck lid to settle. You can also roll the rear of the body by adding a bracket from the trunk latch to the frame (also allowing the center of the deck lid to settle). To determine how long to build the bracket I just took a piece of wood and wedged it between the trunk latch and the trunk aluminum lengthening or shorting until I was satisfied. I did both which will stiffen the rear latch, (I never liked the idea of the latch being supported by the body fiberglass and the thin piece of floor aluminum) The trunk is now solid and opens and closes really well. Unfortunately I don't have any before pictures but I do have these after ones. Good luck! Ray
