I am contemplating spraying (some kind of) undercoating (UPOL- Raptor, Line X, etc.) on the under side of the hood. This would be mainly for aesthetics and to finish off the underside. I would like to hear some builders thoughts on the pro's & con's of doing this...Here are just a few I came up with.
Pro - Finishes out the underside of the hood nicely and protects from any marring or blemishes
Pro - Adds more rigidity to the hood
Con - Adds weight to the hood
Con - Cost & Application
Con (?) - Will this increase the heat/temperature of the engine compartment ???
Looking forward to the input on this

I used UPOL Raptor on the underside of my Gen 3 Coupe, including the hood, so does that count? I was very pleased with the product and the outcome. Looks great and is super hard. Much better looking texture and certainly more durable than the usual solvent or water based products. I briefly considered taking it to Line-X. But the cost was much too high. Sweat equity gave me just as good a job IMO. Add rigidity? Don't think much if any. Weight yes but unless you go crazy isn't terrible. I used the 4 quart kit and did the entire body with two coats. Shipment including gun, packaging, etc. was 11 lbs. IMO the cost is quite reasonable. $130 for my kit including the gun. Can't say for sure about the heat. But there's enough air moment and open on the bottom, can't imagine it's a lot. Good luck. If you haven't used the product before, I think you'll like it. It's very cool how you mix it in the bottles in comes in and the gun screws onto the bottle. Easy to do and easy clean-up.

Like Edwardb, I used UPOL Raptor on the backside of my body.
Though I can't answer any of your questions, it came out very nice even though I'll never really see it.
Shown below is how it came out:

It comes in various color options at a slight upcharge.
