Sorry but I never felt good about the kit hose setup. Between the rubber adapters and the less than ideal seal they offered I knew it was not the best option. When I saw photos of some splitting it was time to go. One stop shopping at Speedway Motors got the stainless tube and 2 silicone hoses.

Looks good and not that unlike the original set-up from Factory Five. One question on the tube, does it have a bead in it for the clamps to pull against? It doesn't look like you have much room for the hoses to move, but on the original tube from FFR there were a few instances of the tube blowing off the end of the hose.

I bought a pipe spreader to do that but the stainless tubing would probably just laugh at it. I may weld a bead on the ends if its a issue. I do have 2" of clamp area on each end and its double clamped. If you think about the bendy hose it only had about 2 rings for a seal and nothing to prevent pull off plus a hose inside a hose.. Another method to prevent pull off is too drill the tube and put several rivits in the end to act as a bead. If the bendy hose worked as it is you have to wonder how. It did and it amazes me.

Perhaps a bead of JB Weld would act as a anti-slip ring for the hoses? Simple enough to do...:)

Hi, what were the part #'s with this setup from Speedway? I thought that Mark at Breeze had a similar setup for the upper hose but I just looked at his website and he has something for the lower hose setup. http://www.breezeautomotive.com/details.php?prod_id=898

Funny thing is I saw a FFR a few weeks ago that had a similar upper hose as your setup and I could swear that he told me he got it from Mark.

If Breeze had it and I knew about it I would have done that because Mark would have it worked out. What I did turned out just fine but I was running on my judement which turned out to not be a issue. Dumb luck can be good too.
The part #s are 917-1007-1.50 917-1010-1.50 and 910-133-1.50 You will have to decide how much stainless tube to use in relation to the rubber hose to suit yourself.

Nice solution!

I'm not a huge fan of the look of the corrugated tubing but have used it with no functional issues. Regarding the lack of bead, when using the corrugated I've installed 3 short stainless pan or round head screws at the ends to serve the same purpose.

Slide the hose over and install a clamp on the dry side. Once it is tightened there is no way the clamp or hose is coming over it, eliminating the need for double clamping. The same could be done with the smooth pipe.

Cheers,
Jeff

Hello Jeff - that is a nice solution. It is simple and effective; often the best.

Here is something I came across this morning that I am not familiar with the good or the bad. It is a shrink fitting.

People say the shrink thing works. Ok so how do you loosen it and reposition a hose? Nope, not gonna happen. I'm just old fashioned I guess. Clamps that can be repositioned and reused fit my needs.

@3kcarbon

Where did you get that 90 degree thermostat housing/filler setup? That is a lot cleaner install than the in-line filler that seems to come with the kit. (I'm not actually sure what comes with the kit - I don't get mine until mid November)

Thanks,
Tom

The adapter is from Cobra Earl. It makes it possible to use (excuse the bad word) Chevrolet filler setups since there is so much variety made. The top part comes from Jegs. The Ford thermostat as provided by Earl didn't work for me since it couldn't open down into the billet adapter and I had to use a Chevy one in the Jegs top unit. So far it has work well. I must admit I have changed things around as I found out I didn't like or trust certain things. It would be nice to buy once and be done. Its all part of owning a money pit that's 4" off the ground....

Breeze shows a very nice upper (hose / pipe) but unless I missed it on their site it looks like it's only sold with his eze pak kit (#71028). It looks very nice. Actually the entire eze pak looks great. Mark has really put together a great offering to help build these cars.

Di you use a smooth water pump pulley or groved one?
