With the Gen 2 chassis the A/C unit that mounts behind the dash appears to be quite a bit smaller than the Gen 1 unit. With so much of the build manual being Gen 1 related, is the top right of the firewall location specified in the manual the only option? I will not be running a hood and that spot would really highlight these hoses. Has anyone moved them inboard and maybe down some? The location in the manual would also seem to interfere with the mounting of the radiator overflow tank that they show being mounted between the two round frame tubes.

Has anyone done something different they could share?

I left the firewall as directed, put the overflow tank inboard that (close to header but I don't see a problem there); I am going to move the A/C box inboard to Gain some room for the plumbing- check that before you commit

Here's the instructions for the smaller unit: https://www.factoryfive.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/AC-HEATER-DEFROSTER-Truck-Hot-Rod.pdf

I'd suggest moving the FW holes more toward the center (maybe just an inch) as my hoses are right up against the door hinge bolts, so hard to adjust the doors.

I did it like this - for the same reason - didn't want the hoses so prominent when running without hood/side covers. I moved the evap unit inboard a few inches from where the manual shows and it also allows easier routing of the hoses.129430 129431

I think I'll go with this option, I've already mounted the overflow tank inboard so I can use the space you have selected. So tell us about those panels mounted inside.....

They're just some floor panels I came up with to cover the frame tubes and provide a flat surface to place your feet against. pretty easy to make with one bend and then just used a hole saw and dimple die set. Also provides an air gap so should be cooler as well. I saw a picture some where of something similar and liked the look - my car is going to have a lot of bare sheet metal in the interior
