View Full Version : Wilwood Front Flex line hook up

I have been working on my front brake line routing and all was going well getting the SS lines bent, flared and routed. I followed a route similar to some others that is different than the manual. I came out of the upper right corner of the footbox and then went along the upper tube to the front, then down the tube to end up in the same location that the manual route ends up.

At the end of my hard line i have a kit supplied tee, one female port goes to a hard line across the frame to the PS side. The male port leads out to the DS wheel well. The trouble I am having is getting my Wilwood supplied flex line to connect to the factory supplied tee. The Wilwood connection is a female 3/8-24 IF, and I assumed that the male end of the Tee was the same. The female ports on the tee are all 3/8-24.

According to all my gauges the Tee male out is 3/8-24 but NONE of my known good 3/8-24 connectors will screw on past a 1/4 turn or less, then it locks up tight. It just does not feel right. I have 2 of these tee's in my kit and they both behave the same.

Does anyone else who followed this routing found the same issue? Some of the builders who come to mind that did this rout and i think connected the flex line to the tee are Mike E and Edwardb.

I have found tee's at Summit that have the correct spec's, i am tempted to order those to try, but I am not sure that some other adapter may be required.

Thanks for any input anyone can provide.

You don't connect the Wilwood flex line directly to the Tee fitting. It's pretty clearly shown in the manual. There's a tab that you mount to the frame. Then there are adapter fittings that came with the kit that go into this tab and are held in place by a spring-like clip. The Tee is connected to this fitting on the inside. And the Wilwood flex cable on the outside. This same tab/adapter/spring clip is used on all four corners. Picture of the front with the Tee fitting on page 225 of my Coupe manual. Although your page number might be different. Here's a picture from my build. The Tee fitting is just barely visible on the inside.

Edwardb,

Thank you, you are correct. I was not clear in my description, i am connecting the Wilwood supplied adapter to the flex line and then connecting it to the Tee. It just does not thread in easily or as far as I would expect it too. I am going to do some more testing to make sure it is good.

You have confirmed my question. Thanks!
