I'm at the step where I'm getting my Boyd Tank setup to install, and found the link above about the larger check valve/vent to ease filling. This seems like a no-brainer upgrade right now because this is something that could cause frustration at each fillup. The Breeze valve is larger https://www.breezeautomotive.com/shop/big-bore-vent-check-valve-kit/ but it's setup for the push-in type setup

I'm still getting used to NPT fittings, the FFR valve ranges from .83" wide at top to .75" at bottom

the Boyd Tank has an NPT fitting that the stock FFR part fits, but are there larger aftermarket ones?

Hey Todd,

I used the Breeze part then fabbed a simple Nylon Housing with a barbed fitting to run to a barbed fitting on the NPT Vent on the tank. Why did I do this, because the small brass check valve screwed directly into the tank got stuck several times making filling difficult....and a pain in the butt to drop the tank to remove it and clean it out. Fuel sloshes up into the vent and if you don't drive it for a while, it varnishes and sticks the ball to the seat in the check valve.

So I wanted the housing well above the tank, and easily serviceable. So I mounted it on the sheet metal adjoining the trunk on the filler neck side, then ran a 1" hose down to the barb fitting on the tank...no way fuel is getting up that high. You can go to a charcoal canister from the valve mounted in the same location.

I think I saved the drawings for the housing, if you interested in going this way send me a PM and we can discuss.

Cheers,
Dave

I reached out to Boyd and they said the 1/2 NPT fitting that comes with the stock tank should work fine - I do like the remote mount option that can give a little space between the check valve and any splashing gas
