I have spent a good 6 hours on getting my trans tunnel to fit. Still not good. I am going to have to cut it up to get around e-brake. Anyone else have this problem is it just the newbie problem

Hi Chuck, welcome.
I cut mine down the center, lets you shape it to your tran and eases dealing with wiring (route them thru here before you drill holes in the firewall) IMHO

I had to narrow my tunnel under the bench seat. Also cut some teeth off the brake handle so it would not come up as far. Requires cable adjustment more carefully.

I'm building a 33 but similar trans cover. I sliced it down the middle to get more footroom and closer to the transmission. Also had to do a litte trimming around the handbrake bracket to get everything to fit.

Thanks guys, that is what I am going to do. I just needed some confirmation. I took a couple weeks off to take the wife to see the grandkids. Back at it now.

I had terrible trouble with the tunnel too. It did not fit the firewall and the seat did not fit down on top of it. I tried cutting and reforming it for days. I finally gave up and built my own tunnel with AL. See pics.136004

I had similar trouble.
Cut my tunnel into 3 pcs and reassembled it in the truck, then pop riveted and glued it back together before pulling it back out.
Then needed to make a significant cut out for my Powerglide shift linkage down at the side of the transmission + then box the remainder back in. Lastly needed to cut up and widen the seat frame so it would fit over the tunnel with the heat insulation plus the foam kit and carpet.
