View Full Version : Leaking Brake Reservoir

Just when I thought I'd fixed all the leaks that developed over the first few go karts, I saw a new puddle in the driveway, under the brake reservoir. I have the FFR reservoir made of polished aluminum. I assumed it was a solid cup with a separate cap on top. I was wrong. The bottom end is a separate piece attached to the main body cylinder. The joint between them is leaking brake fluid. I don't know how they are attached, how to separate them or tighten the joint. Does anyone have any ideas about how to stop the leak?

Mine leaked too. F5 sent me some new ones, but they too were unbaffled, had a sealed reservoir.
I bought Jmax, 3 pot reservoir, expensive, but very good stuff.

Same problem, FF sent me a new one last week.

I hope they send me one soon, I don't want to go-cart without one but the catalog shows them as out of stock. Mine just started leaking after I started running the engine. Prior to that I didn't notice any leaks. I don't know what caused the leak to start. Maybe vibration. Any ideas? Have you had any problem with the new one?

Mine leaked out of the box, haven't driven the car yet! Haven't installed the new one yet, I'll let you know

I had the same problem. I took the bottom off and put some Teflon tape on the treads, making sure to cover the sealing surface, put it back together and no leaks.

How did you get a grip on the bottom? Not a pipe wrench.

They leak. I welded mine but looked like crap so I used the X Jamar since CNC closed their doors.

I was able to get the bottom off by putting the bottom nipple in the vice with padded clamps. It seems like the tanks should seal with the O ring but it didn't. I put teflon tape on the threads and some thread sealer I've used with great success on fuel and oil connections. It used to be sold under the name fuel lube but now is called ez turn. I've done lots of gas and diesel connections with it and never had a leak. Lets hope it works with brake fluid.

Do you have links to the non FFR fluid reservoirs - I can't seem to find them - thanks!

No. I don't have any yet but I may have to find some. My repair attempt failed.

Thanks for posting, mine is leaking too and I had not figured out where it was coming from.
