Okay, here goes nothing...
So, this is my third Cobra to build and it is at the paint shop as we speak.
After weeks of indecisive banter on my part, my painter suggested going with an old school race car look, including decals and gum balls.
The kicker here is that he wants to paint the gumballs and decals. In addition, we are discussing going with the semi gloss (satin) affect to boot.
Has anyone else done this or even seen this on a replica?
While I think it would look cool, I am a little apprehensive that I might grow tired of looking at race car numbers on my street car.
Granted these cars are not your normal daily driver and have a lot of "personality" to begin with.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

Really a personal preference. I have vinyl light tack meatballs and static cling decals. That way I have a choice.

In my opinion, the car looks more high end / expensive, without being stickered up. But certainly fun dressed out for the track.127890127891

Not a fan of satin. Its starting to go out of style already. I tend to stay away from fad colors and finishes myself. Other people, it's their thing. I've never been sorry a couple years down the road, though.

If you’re not totally sold on the idea don’t do it...paint it to please you not him.

Don't think I'd paint them on. Did something similar 40 years ago. Ended up repainting the car a year later.

1) "Old school look" and "satin" just don't seem to go together.

2) Removable meatballs and sponsor decals give you the option to change the look that painted-on meatballs and sponsor decals will not.

If this is your third Cobra, I'm sure there will be a 4th, 5th and maybe a 6th.
If that is the case, you need to think of resale value when it comes to your paint scheme.
As for me I'd love to paint my car Green; however, it is a color that appeals to a limited audience.
With that said, my car is going to be RED because a Resale Red car typically will out pace other colors.
