I am close to taking my 33 to the local painter for the first visit. I went for a drive, maybe 15 minutes, with the roof attached and trunk deck lid firmly attached with duct tape. That's a story for another time. I then took the wife for a drive. After 5 minutes she complained about the seats being very uncomfortable. I hadn't noticed, I wanted to say something I was sure to regret, so I said I'll ask the guys here for their input. I did a little research and found on several blogs where guys put Miata seats or something similar in place of the stock vinyl seats we have.127883

I don't know what your plans are for the interior, but you can have the seats overfilled a bit if you are going to have someone recover them. I did this and my seats are relatively comfortable...I say relatively because, in my case, the comparison made by my wife to the car is all based on new, modern, production manufactured, vehicles. Meaning cars that don't smell like gas, no road noise, no air seepage, etc., you get the point...when my wife gets in the car (god bless her), before I even start it, "it smells like gas, are you going to be able to fix that", "why is it so hot", "is air supposed to come in around the window". All I am thinking is how amazing it is to be driving down the road with the love of my life in a vehicle I built. My care is comfortable for about 150 miles and then you need to stop, get out and walk around a bit...of course I have had to stop and fill up by this time as well too. I think you'll find some options on seating out there that will help things out considerably, but I have had many conversations of compromise with MYSELF about by my build...but wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

Blade, I'm sorry that I have no response for the seat at the moment. I'm sure I will have much to think about that later. I would, however, love to know what wheels and tires you have on your car. They are similar to what I would love to have. Can you share with me the information, especially sizes and back spacing.

Thanks,
Roger

JOP33,

I love it!! My wife says all the same stuff when I take her out in our BMW M Series convertible. Can't wait to hear what she has to say about the 33 when I'm done, lol.

What I can't wait to hear is the loud noises when I tell her how much paint and body work will cost....

wheels: Ridler 695 chrome from Amazon
front: 17 x 8 0mm offset
rear: 20 x 10 0mm offset
bolt pattern: 5 x 114.3
Tires: front 245/35ZR-17 TOYO Proxes r1rxl
rear: 285/25ZR-20 TOYO Proxes

Take the seat to a local upholsterer and have the foam upgraded. She’s never going to be actually happy, by virtue of the lack of Y chromosome, so just stick with foam!
