Sadly it is now official and the 2020 London Cobra Show has been cancelled due to uncertainty surrounding the pandemic. The OCC guys have all worked tirelessly this year just like they do every year, Factory Five provided the kit, Formacars provided the engine, I donated the paint job and other vendors have pitched in all with the goal of making a record setting donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Just because circumstances won’t allow the event to go off as scheduled don’t let that stop the support. I'm going to suggest that those who have already registered use their registration and banquet reservation refunds to purchase additional raffle tickets. Once again it will be a win-win; additional funds to help the Foundation and more chances for you to take home the car! For those others who didn't plan to attend keep on purchasing tickets because THE WINNER WILL BE DRAWN ON SATURDAY EVENING JUNE 27. Lets make some lemonade out of these lemons and continue our support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!

Very kind of you, but may I respectfully point out it may help the LCS doing the separate purchase yourself.

All of us will most likely need to do these conversions ourselves.

Respectfully, I only bring this up to ensure that the LCS is able to maximize their donation pool.
I'm not a rep for the LCS, so don't know their ability on transferring funds. But a small business owner, when making refunds with Credit Cards on file, the charge goes back to the credit card and are unable to transfer charges to another item. Once a charge is made, it is only assigned to that item and we, or they, don't have the ability to transfer. But if you'd like them to keep the Donation without reassignment, That may be allowed :) (if paid in check, this may be different).

Doing the separate purchase ourselves will work out for the LCS and the goal of making a record setting donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation can be Achieved!! :)

Mr. Kleiner beat me to it. I texted George Dalton, OCC President this morning about doing this exact thing. There are currently 134 cars registered. Not all are from this community, so I hope someone knows where this same message can be posted for the other car owners groups. If everyone converted their registration to tickets with the remaining money (not rounded to the nearest $20) being directed as a donation to CF, we can definitely make this the biggest check yet. Even if they have to refund us our money before we buy the tickets, let's keep this thing going right up until the ticket is pulled.

The generosity of this forum never ceases to amaze me. You are all incredible people.

Yes Steve, this was a great figure! Typically the donation is in the $100-125K range...far from chump change! This brings the total that the event has donated to the Foundation over the years to greater than $1,700,000. Remember too that this is an outright, on the spot donation; sometimes you'll hear of a corporate donation or pledge of "X" dollars but the fine print is that these are often spread out over 5, 10, 20 years. The 2020 success is thanks to the continued support of so many even after the cancellation and also due to the fact that since almost all of the goods and services for the raffle car were donated it required very little cash outlay. This charity has been very near and dear to my heart ever since I met Jenny Smith when she was only 2 years old so I offer my personal gratitude to all those who have helped and supported it over the years and to the officers and board of the Ohio Cobra Club for organizing the event :)
