Tried fitting my roll bar today. Is the hoop part supposed to sit down further? There's a small bump or weld on the anterior side of the tube preventing the hoop from sitting lower. This results in a 1/4" gap with the rear leg that I can't push up to close. Not sure if I should file down the bump or sand the chrome off the Male part of the hoop 127866127867

I would use a dremel on the female area that is going to be out of sight. Also use a bit of grease when you put it together. You’ll thank yourself down the road when you have to take it apart someday.

Yes, it should be tight. The plating and tubes are not 100% concentric or perfect. It may take some turning of one, wiggle the other until the sweet spots line up and it works!-The grease helps here too.

Clean the plating off of the male and both ends of the female to provide just a bit more wiggle room. Do not remove the "bump or weld" on the chassis stubs---it's there on purpose to serve as a stop.

I used a 1/4" collet Die Grinder with these spiral sanding drums. You need to buy the mandrel these screw onto also, there are two diameters of the mandrels, so check the spiral drum ID and order the appropriate mandrel for you die grinder. Even a HF pneumatic die grinder will work fine for this kind of work and cheap; and once you have it you'll find alot of other little sanding jobs that are much easier with the right tool. Second on the grease!
