View Full Version : 7617 has found a new home
Bob Stewart from Stewart Transport (no relation), delivered my mkIV tonight. I've been like a kid waiting for Christmas since my trip to pick it up on the 17th fell through on the 15th. 7617 is home now that is what is important. Now its time to finish prepping parts and start putting this thing together.
Here are a few photos of the drop off and the obligatory VROOM VROOM shot.

Mine comes tomorrow! I just talked to Bob about your delivery one the phone, it pushed mine back a day which so happens to be perfect timing for me! Congrats, keep in touch maybe we can race to see who finishs first?
Thanks guys. last night I mostly just basked in the awesomeness of its presence. I checked the garage before going to bed, and again when I woke up. This morning I had an obligation that kept me from it, but the rest of the weekend is devoted to going through the inventory, and getting started. I may have to take some time off work next week if I'm to distracted.

I'll race you to completion. Stewart dropped mine off 2 months ago... I'm still at donor teardown stage.

good luck ..... it was niice meeting you folks
The race is on guys. Tomorrow the body comes off the frame. I then plan to mod the trunk floor and relocate the parking break before painting the frame.
Bob, it was nice to meet you to.

Posting on the internet when you should be driving!! ;)
Looking forward to meeting you as well Bob. Going crazy hearing about all these guys getting their kits. Think I'm your last stop in Torrance, CA. Headed out to build school today but will be back Monday evening. I'll be like that dog tied out in front of the supermarket who gets excited every time someone comes out.
"HEY I HEAR A TRUCK!! aww... it's UPS."
"TRUCK COMING!! aww... stupid Fedex"
"TRUCK!!! aww... neighbor walking by."
You get the idea. :D

Bob was super cool, Anyone who gets to meet Bob is in luck! He was more then helpfull on my delivery. Helped move my frame around on my overly complicated floor jacks a couple of times to get it just right.
As far as this race goes its on, I am hoping to get the body off this weekend and get rolling as well. I am the newbie though so are we setting handicaps? = P
Did you find any missing parts in your boxes J.D.?
The inventory showed 8 washers mounted with the trunk hinge that were not there.
My back ordered front LCA's showed up this week with only one castle nut for the balljoint.
I just noticed today that they sent a passenger roll bar instead of driver.
IRS control arms left Wareham today leaving just a couple back ordered items.

Uhoh now I need to go pull my roll bars out to make sure they sent me the right ones. I ordered both passenger and driver. Wouldn’t that be fun if our parts go switched around some how = P.
My front lower control arms were missing the 4 nuts to bolt them in. I didn’t inventory every nut and bolt in the boxes I am hoping to get trucking on this project so I can inventory the boxes more thoroughly as I open them again as needed.
FFR was very easy to deal with and shipped my missing nuts right away.

J.D. need a update so I can tell how far behind in this race I am = P
I got my body off and removed the aluminum panels. Also got most of the front suspension on so far. BTW Do not forget to rivet in that first panel before putting the suspension on I learned this the hard way = )
SirAustin, you are just a little ahead of me. I lowered the trunk floor and removed the aluminum this weekend. I ordered the bare frame so I had to degrease it. Last night I painted the frame.
I guess for the rest of the week I'll be wearing POR15.

Haha, well I’ve been having some difficulties dealing with powder coat making spacers and bolts not want to fit so painting probably saved you some time in the long run.
Glad to hear you are finding some time to play with the new toy, my father and I are building this together and are having a blast so far!
Again good luck with your build can't wait to read your next update.
