I have 18" Halibrand wheels and thinking about tires. Fronts 265/35/18 and rears 315/30/18. Seeking opinions or advice.
Thanks.
I went with Michelin Pilot Sports, but with a 245/35/18 on the front. This tire is available in a 265/35/18. They are one of the only performance tires I've found with a tread wear warranty! These have a 30,000 tread warranty.

I like PS2s. I think the 265 / 315 combination would be great.
Great ride, not sure on noise. Handle well and work well in the rain.

I think I will go with the PS2"s. Thanks Dave and Jim!

These are the PS2s that I went with on my 18" wheels. The first photo is of them brand new, the 2nd/3rd photo are of them right now with 10,000 miles on them. Mind you, these are 10,000, fun, exaggerating, aggressive, spine tingling, 1/4 mile heart pounding, doughnut making, smile generating miles...

Those have at least another 10 miles in them, maybe even eleven or twelve.

What size did they used to be?

They still are 255/40 and 315/35 and are currently being used to hold up and roll around a Gen 3 that’s under construction.

But man those NT01's stuck like glue on every turn! I ran those doing some autox in an m5 many years ago. Incredible grip compared to a regular street tire. That really opened my eyes to tire compounds.

Wear them out..... don't let them age out....

I ordered a set of MT-01 tires myself.
I am anxious to see how they grip compared to normal street tires. These cars are so light, I feel like a sticky, soft tire is just the ticket.

I did the R888R's, wanted to be able to plant the Coyote power. I know they'll last only a few thousand miles, but I accept that!

NT01 that is.
I may investigate the NT05 on front and the NT05R on the rear.
Thoughts?
I apologize for the thread hijack.

What are you going to do with the car? Cruise to a show and back home, or head to the track?
How much HP do you have?
I am a fan of tires in the 200 treadwear range for all around use. Sticky, and you can get 10,000 miles out of them with a combination of street, autocross and some track. 10,000 miles is about 2 years for an average Cobra owner from what I read and my experience.

NT05R is for going straight (drag radial). If you like corners, stay with the NT05. That is what I run on my 17s. I autocross and track, but no drags.

After talking with Nitto rep, I have also decided to switch to the NT05 front and rear.

I have a barely 1 year old set I'd let you have for ~ half price of new, less than 2000 miles - 315/17 rear, 275/17 front.
Going to 100TW.
As above - wear them out, don't age them out.

haven't put them on the car yet, but hopefully this month I'll get the car on the ground to see how it looks so far :)

But, if you counted the lateral miles you probably got 10,000 out of them!

These 12,000 mile tires are not up to Jeff's standards.

I ran NT05's since I built my car. They are about 5 years old and 9500 miles. They still have quite a bit of tread but traction has totally gone away. The NT05's worked pretty good at first but now they are pretty scary with much throttle at all. So, I decided I wanted the stickiest tire I could get for the rear. I do not track, autocross or drive corners aggressively. However I do like to romp on it hard in a straight line when the situation presents itself. That led me to the decision to go with a drag radial. That narrowed it down to just a few choices. I ended up choosing the Toyo Proxes TQ drag radial. They are a 0 tread wear tire so maybe I can wear them out before they age out. They have a decent amount of tread that I hope will provide just a bit of stability if I get stuck in rain. So far I love them! They hook really good and the car drives great. I can feel a tiny bit more squirm than the Nt05's, so I'm sure they wouldn't be as stable around corners. I'll probably go with R888R's on the front pretty soon . If I ever decide to autocross I'll just swap the rears to R888R's also.

They are a 0 tread wear tire
Bob
So they're worn out before you use them?
I keep thinking about going to NT01s. That would put me into a new set every 12 months or less. I get about 10K miles (2 years) out of NT05s, with a couple events of "crap, I have no grip!", but the tread is pretty much gone by then also. They do harden up with heat cycles, like pretty much any tires.
