I've visited the forum of and on through the years though I just now signed up. I've had the bug since I was in college and factory five first hit the scene. I've been dreaming ever since. I'm now financially in a position that I can start to seriously consider building my first roadster. My five children are getting older and timing has gotten better than it used to be. I also finally have a garage space to do it. I live just north of Montgomery, AL in Prattville. Before I pull the trigger, I do think it wise to actually sit in a Mk4 before moving forward. Is there anyone in the greater Montgomery area (Auburn, Birmingham, etc.) that would be willing to let a complete stranger come and feel one out? If not, I understand and look forward to future interactions and learning.

Thanks!

BamaFord,

You've got some great guys in your area that I'm sure will reach out to you soon.
If need be you can sit in mine if you find yourself near New Orleans.
Right now the body is at the paint shop, but the car is at my home.
Just understand that there is nothing Ford about my Red Bone Roadster.
Welcome aboard, but more importantly welcome to the Factory Five Family.

Greg,

I'm 5'10" tall with a 32" inseam so the Factory Five Big & Tall seats work very well.
I've got Breeze angled seat mounts which makes the seats extremely comfortable so I fit like a glove.
If you are a few inches taller than me, Kirkey Vintage or Kirkey Type-55 Drag Seats will give you a lot more room.
Should you decide to make the ride to the Dell (Slidell, La.) we'll let you Socially Distance sit in and poke around the car.

Greg,
I'm 5'8" which should be a no brainer, but with a few extra inches at the waist, it was a bit tricky. But after studying Dave Smith getting in and out in many videos-it's all method! He's over 6' and handles getting in and out like a pro. The things that can hinder you are your foot size and what shoes you need to wear while driving. The seats can be put in so the cockpit it custom for you. Other than that, if you are under 6' you can easily make this work for you.

Go for it!

Yeah, all indicators are that I can pull it off. I've got some belly and I'm 6'1". I'm longer in the torso than legs. I've got a 32" inseam and wear a 12 or 13 shoes depending on sneakers vs boots. I'm a solid 250 lbs. The kirky vintage seat is probably a must along with some footbox mods and a small block. Thanks Eric. I was wondering what Dave's height was. My problem is the 38" waist.

Bama,
I am 20 miles north of B'ham. I am completing a MkIV with F5 seats and sliders. You are welcome to come by and try my car on for size. If you have a truck or trailer, you are welcome to a body rack. It has been sitting out in the weather, but still structurally sound. Just give me a call. I am retired, so usually can be available. I will PM you my phone number.

Welcome,
