This weekend, as I'm getting close to the end, it got me to thinking about all the 'firsts' that come along with building a FFR car. Many of us start these projects with a mechanical background, but you get exposed to so many different things.
Thought I would share my list:
- Bending/fabricating brake lines
- Installing carpet
- Installing leather/vinyl
- Wiring a complete car
- Tuning factory ECU
- Trimming/shaping aluminum
- measuring driveshaft angles
- getting great help from the Forum community

It definitely has been an awesome journey. Now that I'm close to the end, I see why so many people build multiple cars.

I just posted my graduation data and was thinking the same thing. When you go back and look at all your photos you realize all the things you learned. it has been a great journey and I am all ready missing the build.

The biggest first for me was building a car with my son. That experience trumps all the others. I had to wait for him to get home from training in the USAF, but literally, 90 minutes after he dropped his duffle bags in the house, we were hanging the front suspension. The other notable firsts:

Building an engine (with a pro builder)
Planning all the details I wanted in my car. I had dreamed of doing it, but never realized what it took.
Modifying the chassis with the changes/improvements I wanted.
