I see some builds with black aluminum panels. Are those painted or are they powder coated? Just curious.
Thanks

I am using Shark Hide. Its good stuff, and I like the raw aluminum look.

I used a rattle can bed liner and would NOT recommend doing this. It looks fine, but isn't very durable and chips/scratches easily. If I were to do it again, I'd go raw aluminum with Sharkhide or powder coating.

black powder coat. I have a local guy that will do all the aluminum for under $400 I typically only do the firewall forward.

Brushed finish with satin clear powder coat in the engine bay area, satin black powder for the rest.

I did a silver powder coat for visible panels.

We powder coat everything with Silver Artery powder from prismatic. It is a very modeled so that stone chips and little dings disappear without looking like a wort.

I like the look of raw aluminum. I degreased, sanded with 800 grit, and applied sharkhide. Still looks great 3 years later.

Thanks for all the responses. I figured Powder was the way to go. Good thing I do my own!! Just an excuse to buy bigger better equipment. Dont think my little eastwood oven will cut it.

Now that you have decided on powder coat, you only have to select one of about a million colors. Good luck.

Like Papa Dave I rattle canned it, but would go down the powder coat trail if I had to do it over.

I had everything powder coated in Galaxy Grey III from Prismatic Powders. Color is perfect with a very fine metal flake to it. With the car being painted Mopar redline red and white stripes (with Black accent lines), I'd say this will represent Buckeye Nation pretty well. O-H.

I went with the raw look myself. Wanted the look of the original race cars of the era. Brushed aluminum and Sharkhide. Still looks good and easy to clean.

If your wife isn't using it, move it out to the garage!

Another car here with raw aluminum.
I use WD-40 and a rag to keep it looking new.

I polished my engine bay panels and then Sharkhide. HUGE amount of labor for something you can't really see.
If I build again, I would either powdercoat or just leave them raw.
