I did a little tweaking on the throttle pedal this morning. I have the Coyote drive by wire throttle.
When moving from the throttle to the brake pedal, the top of the throttle pedal was lower than the brake pedal.
Anyway, I planned on putting a stack of washers under the the 2 attachment holes and raise the pedal.
I put a 3/8" stack under the bottom and pulled it down, short of tight.
I was ready to put the top stack of washers in place and noticed the pedal looked pretty good. It was higher than the brake pedal and looked good.
I put the top bolt back with no washers and everything looks and feels good.
This is much better than having your foot hit the side of the brake pedal, when you need to stop.
Other than being more ergonomic, it might save your bacon on one of those uh ohs.

Actually, I feel that the opposite is the case and always set the pedals up so that the throttle is forward of the brake. Go check out all of your daily drivers and I think you'll see that is how they are arranged. I had a Coyote powered roadster in here recently with the throttle and brake on the same plane and it was downright dangerous---and I do not have large feet. What happens is that the right side of your foot winds up on the throttle when braking. But if you're comfortable...

Maybe it's my knee room. While putting some miles on, putting tunes in the computer, shaking down the car and waiting on my paint time, I find my foot hitting the brake pedal when coming off the throttle to the brake.
I am sure it is a possibility to catch both the brake and gas with the right foot. I will see how it goes with some seat time.
Thanks for the info.

I agree with Jeff (as usual)...I fine tuned the pedal position to have the brake ([when applied) about level with the throttle to ease "heel-toe" downshifting.
I think that the issue is more about the close proximity of the two pedals laterally...they are very close together so hitting both unintentionally happens easily.

Just my $0.02 (CDN) or $0.014 (US)

and another one agreeing with Jeff, it's like he's experienced or something ;)

I actually had my throttle pedal a hair lower than the brake but when pressing on the brake the right side of my foot would start to press the gas, lowered the gas pedal. The foot box on these things are tight, would have been nice to move the pedal more to the right but...

On a related note, what shoes are you guys wearing when driving? I'm still getting my pedals dialed in find that a pair of standard sneakers are way too wide in the toe box and get hung up on brake pedal when hitting throttle (Coyote pedal).

I bought some driving shoes and they do make a big difference in getting my feet on the right pedal.
My throttle pedal is very close to the inside foot box wall. I have the brake pedal shaved to the max on the right side.
I put my New Balance shoes on the belt sander and they will do in a pinch.
I too was hitting the brake pedal, while pressing the gas pedal. I had to learn to put my right foot against the foot box wall every time.
I might take the pivot out of the throttle pedal and slot the mounting holes for the coyote pedal mount. I think I might be able to move it toward the center another 1/8th of an inch and it still feel normal.

I generally wear boat shoes w/ the thin soles

Some brands have the sole w/ a bit more width than I want so I cut or grind some off the left side of my right shoe sole. Also, depending on what pedals you have some of the brake pedals have multiple sets of holes for bolting them to the pedal arm. So you can move the brake pedal pad to the left.

I used the SN95 pedal box mainly just for having steel pedal arms I could cut / bend / weld / rearrange as necessary - I wanted to build room to be comfortable driving the car while wearing work boots.

Mission accomplished - which leaves very comfortable extra room when wearing running shoes.

The throttle pedal is just below the height of the brake when you're on the brakes - just a rock of the foot / ankle to apply a little throttle for down shifts.
