Desperately trying to fix the Gen 1 Coyote stall issue and not having much luck with the JMS Chips tuning approach.
I'm in Australia and happy to pay for shipping.

G'day Peter,
Nice to see another Aussie on the forum. I have a gen1 Coyote in my Mk4. I got the engine in early 2012. I have not had issues with stalling. I fitted it with a speed dial. I also use the clutch switch, which was optional on the gen 1. Most say that the clutch switch is to prevent cranking the engine without first depressing the clutch. This is true. However it does more than this on my engine. It also affects the idle revs by increasing them slightly when clutch is disengaged. This is what I believe assists with preventing a stall condition.
Gen 1 drivers experience a stall condition when clutch is disengaged whilst engine is being driven by vehicle momentum in an 'engine braking' state i.e. being used to slow the car down. In this mode there is essentially no fuel being injected into the engine. When the clutch is disengaged the engine RPM drop is sudden as no fuel is being injected and it quickly heads for a stall. Of course the ECU will begin injecting fuel to correct this stall condition, but I beleive the response is too slow (slow response required to improve drivability under normal conditions?) to make correction before a flame out.
I have proven my theory above as follows: with car in engine braking state, I have popped the car out of gear without using the clutch. On the occasion I tried it, the engine didnt stall, but was very close to it and really struggled.
If you have the switch fitted, make sure it is adjusted to change state before the clutch is fully disengaged. That way the ECU can change mode, before the engine is no longer being 'driven'. Hope that makes sense.
I have not had my engine tuned yet, as I wanted to run it for a while. It drives well, but not perfect and has a noticeable bump when going up or down through 2250 RPM. I am in the process of ordering a tune from Lund. I will check if I still need the speed dial after the tune upgrade. If I dont, then you are welcome to it.
PM me if you would like to chat further.
Cheers,

Update. Problem solved with an alternative device bought from Modern Drive Line. No stalling and no surging, a nice smooth drive at last !!

I'm suffering the same dilemma-if anyone has any info on the "device" from Modern Drive Line (the one in Idaho?) I'd love to know...
