The white letters on my sidewalls are more brown than white nowadays. I’d like to bring them back to life with a white tire paint pen. There are acrylic, water, oil based paints.
What works best? Brands? Types?

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but I went the route of www.tirestickers.com
They would go right over the lettering that you have and they hold up very nicely. They let you pick any size you want and even different colors. They are called stickers, but they are actually a thick rubber material that is permanently glued on. I've had mine on for two years and lots of miles and they still look great. Might be worth checking out.
