i think that piece is specific for wilwood brakes. if you aren't using wilwoods, don't worry about it.

That is correct. They should only be provided if you ordered Wilwood brakes from FFR. That said, if you need to use them to get your cables connected, there isn't anything special about them. You can make them out of any thin stainless steel or even mild steel if you paint/powder coat the parts to keep them from rusting.

I made my own. It allowed me to take up slack in the cables and make it so the parking brake actually grabs (just a little).
