Pulling into the drive today, wife informed me drivers headlight was out.
Thought I had it figured out, weather tite plug was partially unplugged.
Plugged in, still no high beam.
Removed the headlight to find the hi beam element burned out.
One of the flat tabs that hold the bulb in had broken.
Is there is quick replacement for these parts, before I begin making my own?

I have the FFR headlights and won’t be using them if you need a replacement.

I too have the FFR headlights. If we are talking about the same part, what are you going to use for your headlights?
These are little flat tabs of metal with a hole for a self taping screw. I think there are 3 of them, that hold the headlight bulb in the retainer ring, that has the adjuster tabs on it.
If these are what you have available, I am interested. Let me know and I will p m you info on us making the deal.
thanks,

If you have some sheet metal of the correct thickness (or maybe a little thicker) I'd just make your own. It's been a real long time but I think I remember making mine just a little larger for a better fit. If you decide to do that, drill several holes in your sheet metal first because it will be much easier to hold. Put the holes a little further apart than needed because it's easier to trim the small pieces around the holes than to drill holes in already cut pieces. Also so you can make the pieces a little over sized and then trim to a good fit.

Thanks for the advise on fabricating them. I was wondering if the alum 6061 was hard enough to hold up.
Maybe MSumners has some, he does not need.
I thought I had read were these were problematic and many had issues with them. I was hoping someone had a proven fix, instead of using the same poor product.
thanks,

I did a google search on the issue and found a couple of solutions. One was to use silicone to attach the ring to the bulb.
The other was to cut out new tabs or back up the cheap ones with additional plates.
Should be working on something today. Thanks all.

Let’s just keep it simple...Just put a small bead of clear silicone on the retainer ring. Also put decent reflectors with replaceable lamps. You’ll thank me later.

Well, I got half of it right. I built a new clip out of the 6061 alum. Local stores did not carry Wagner brand bulbs, bought 2 Sylvania halogens. On installation, I put silicone at about 120* increments on the retainer ring and bulb.
Should be a better bulb, short of LEDs.

Those Sylvania Halogens are what I have... I really like them... very bright and the high beams are crazy...

I’m running a set of euro spec hella H4 lights. I love them as light control is stupid good which make a big difference. Plus aligning them is 1000% easier and better then the FFR supplied ones.
