There is a similar posting about the Gen 3 oil pressure sensor and that you need both the OE and the gauges sensor. I didn't want to post there and create any confusion so I started a new post.

Working my way the FF Coyote installation instructions. In regards to the Oil Pressure sensor the instructions say to replace the OE sensor with the one from the gauge kit. This is fine and very simple. I can't help but ask myself what have I just disabled by not having the sensor hooked up to the engine computer? Does the engine computer for Gen 2 Coyote not need the oil pressure information?

Would it be better if both sensors were used like for the Gen 3 Coyote?

Thank you and I hope I'm not creating a redundant posting. I just don't want to create any confusion. I'm confused enough as it is. LOL

I suggest contacting Ford Racing and asking them if the ECU needs the oil pressure.

No redundancy- you are asking about a gen 2- the other post is about a gen 3.

The answer to your question is:

Yes you can replace the op switch on a gen 2 with the one for your gauge without issue. No code or performance issue will arise.

This is not true for a gen 3.
