All;
I am looking for help on parts Numbers and combination parts to rebuild my LQ4 engine I picked up.
I currently have it down to its bare block. I plan on having it hot tanked, bored 30 over. My plan is to have 550-600 hp. What I am struggling with is know the right combination of parts to achieve this goal. I am thinking of LS3 heads, and intake with coils. Fuel injected as well. the rest I am not sure. I can find a ton of information on the net, but never with a detailed parts list of what to order. I am hoping someone on this forum may have done exactly what I am wanting to do and has a complete build sheet that I could use. this motor will be put into my 68 camaro, with a tremec 5 speed manual trans. Please do not talk about turbos. My plan is to build this myself for both money savings and experience of doing an engine build.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Richard Holdener has probably tested every combination you could think of, including all the LS combos. Great time to start watching his channel and learning all you can.

BTW, we are working on a junkyard 6.0 LQ4 for our long term, Eleanor project. You can see some of the parts we are selecting on our page.

Well, a lot of parts selection depends on use. A turbocharged 9,000 rpm drag racer needs a completely different set of parts than a fun street car. Before you even look at a parts catalog, take a close look at the intended purpose.

The best place with countless recipes for exactly what you want is on the ls1tech.com forums

Intended purpose is a fun street car. cruise around, and then when needed, spirited runs. lol
I have actually posted on LS1 forms. you get a lot of people responding with total opposite of what I want to achieve. turbos, blowers, super chargers....All I am looking to do is have a clean looking engine with some good HP.
I have received a few good responses. but most send you to another website, which again ends up in hours of searching. I am all for searching which I have. but I'm hoping there is someone who did what I want to do and has a build sheet that they would share. I built and own my GTM. That car required a lot of work and research. love the car, but that one I bought the upgraded LS3 that's in it. I'm looking to budget a little better then I did with the GTM.
i.e.427 - what HP are you looking to get from your junkyard LQ4? I am actually not on facebook.

I had a Mk 2 Cobra with a 302 that had a complete trick flow top end kit with heads, intake and cam. It was a big BIG handful. Probably made no more than 350hp on its best day. My current F5 is a 33 hot rod with an LQ9 6.0l. I have about 750 miles on the car since plating it in late february. That motor was 385hp factory and has been uncorked and tuned. I suspect its closer to 410 hp. It will break the car loose anytime I want. Its definitely faster than a pdk Porsche cayman S. Definitely. Curb weight of the hot rod is 2270.
Would I like more hp? Sure. I'm an idiot. Do I need it or can use it? No. Doesnt hook.

We're going to be somewhere in the 600-700 HP area. You said not to talk to you about turbos? That's where we're going with our.
Now, you should be able to easily get to a 450 HP level with a stock bottom end, flat top pistons (stock LQ4 are dished) and a set of 706 or 862 heads. Throw in a valve spring upgrade and a cam with near .600 lift with an LS3 style intake and you're all set.
Keep in mind that ours build is a budget build. We're not using shiny new parts. We'll have less than $2500 into the entire engine complete
Our parts list;
LQ4 junkyard 100K engine
Gap the rings for boost
Used 706 heads to up the compression (add new valve seals)
PAC 1219 valve springs
Summit Racing Stage 2 turbo cam
Truck intake
Snake Eater 1000 cc injectors
Turbo log manifold from Fahler
Undecided on the single turbo right now (may go with an ebay S475 to start)
Used T56 trans from a 1999 Camaro
Stock ECU with custom tune via HP Tuners
That's all going into our 1974 Ford Maverick.
