I am gathering parts to build. ‘33. I have a lead on a 2015 mustang IRS; will this fit/work on a ‘33? Thank you

Yes, but you must order the IRS option from FFR. You will only need the pumpkin, brakes and spindles/uprights. Everything else is scrap.

Thank you mike. The IRS option is something like $2500; do I need to purchase the full option or is it discounted because I would have the pumpkin etc?

That's just the FFR supplied stuff . With your IRS and the $2500 FFR option, you will have all you need.

As Mike said, the $2500 option doesn't include the center section or knuckles/hubs. But it includes everything else: Upper and lower control arms, toe arms, CV axles, all the necessary hardware, bushings, etc. (a lot), and significant frame differences to mount it up. It's an extensive list of stuff you get. It's a really nice setup.

Thank you to all. The IRS May be to rich for my blood, $2500 for the FFR piece plus the $500 donor IRS. I can get a straight axle out of a 1998 mustang fox body, 4 lug drum brake. I know the width meets the 59-1/4” requirement but what about the 4 lug; does it need to be 5 lug? Thank you

You'll need to convert to 5-lug axles and decide if you want to do a 3 or 4 link setup. I wish the IRS setup was only $3k when I was ordering my kit. I spent that on my Moser 8.8. IRS was about $5k at that time. I know you can get a decent solid axle cheap, but will still have some $$ to get it ready. If I were doing it now, I would definitely do the IRS.

Pretty significant ride quality difference between a solid axle and the IRS. I've had both. If that's important to you. Higher performance too, but maybe that's not as important. I get that budgets are real, so you do what you can. As Dave said, solid axle can be nearly as much if you go with Moser or whatever. Pretty good chance that $500 axle is going to need some rehab. Plenty of 4 lug builds out there. But many convert to 5 lug for the better brake selection. I'm not sure Factory Five offers a wheel anymore for the 4 lug either. That's something you might want to seriously evaluate.
