What is everyone doing on the Vinyl dash in order to get the steering wheel butt to fit? Should I drill it out large?

I'm not following. Are you using the FFR supplied wheel or an aftermarket column?

Like silver_plate, I am not sure what’s being asked. If using the FFR hub and steering wheel the hub is about an inch, at least, outside the dash opening. Here’s a picture of mine. I just made the hole in the padding a little smaller than the steering shaft. I painted the shaft black so it didn’t contrast dash. You need at least that much space so your hands can clear the door front while on the steering wheel.

It shouldn't go through the dash.

I wish that was the case but my steering shaft does not stick out that far. 126350126350126350

Loosen the 2 setscrews on the upper pillow block and pull the shaft farther out. If the Belleville spring washers are in place it way take a bit of effort.

Yes, as Jeff said, you should have plenty of extra length. I actually have mine out a tad further than Norm's. Also, I ended up having to remove my upper steering shaft entirely, sand it, and clear coat it as it was surface rusting.
