Having been an FFR participant for quite a few years, I have been through a number of processes and suggestions for posting pictures. Ones I have used in the past (e.g., photobucket) may be suboptimal at present. So I am seeking best strategy for posting pics. I may have need for this soon, as I take delivery on a Mk 4 (Gen 3 Coyote, IRS) on Monday, and I also begin in earnest construction of my Gen 2 R Coupe within the next 4 weeks (or whenever Covid 19 situation makes final phase of a move wise).
Sorry if this the wrong place to ask, but many of you frequenting the Roadster forum are accomplished pic-posters.
I have a Google Photos account.
Thanks in advance for any help.

After a couple of popular third-party picture hosting sites started limiting free storage and/or charging for using their sites to host pictures on forums, I bailed and went to this forum's free gallery. The way to use it is described in detail here:

This site does have some limitations on photo posting, but it's what I use exclusively. It's easy and mostly trouble free.

I too went through the Photobucket experience. Two build threads posted there and the only reason the pictures still show is because I chose to have a paid account. They grandfathered me in at the past price. Holding my breath on that one. For my Gen 3 Coupe build thread, went with this forums image gallery. They're all here: https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/album.php?&u=287. You can organize them however you want, and each has a link that can be posted into your threads. Works great and I highly recommend. The link Papa provided has the instructions. There are several steps, but once you get the hang of it goes quickly. You can see what the pictures look like in my Coupe build thread, link in my sig line below.

Friends don’t let friends use phtobucket! Really, that is not typically my way of describing things I don’t like, but that site is trouble in my opinion, especially for those of us who aren’t members of it. The forum process is needlessly difficult but it does work. You’ll develop your own technique and modify as you go. The thing that trips people up in the beginning is that photos tend to turn sideways. If you just open the photo on a widows computer one time before you upload and rotate it to the correct orientation it will stay that way.

All I do is preview the photo(s) I want to upload, change size to 900pixels wide, which makes them small enough to upload. The use the Insert Image icon above the editor and upload the image. I'm not sure why people use the external services?

I've used Imgur for a while now. I set them to private and then simply copy the URL and use the photo feature on the forums. I realize I am at the mercy of their policies and someday they may just quit allowing linking, but it works for now. Photobucket ruined tons of great forum and blog posts from years and years all across the internet, mine included. I hate that company.

Excuse the lack of a more timely response to all of you for your input, but have been away for a few days. I’ll use the Forum’s hosting capability.
Thanks

Hey Bill, this is a reoccurring issue, especially for new members, and I thought I would put together a video tutorial on the subject. It may not be exactly how you want to do it or the same type of equipment you own, but it might give you a leg up on figuring this out. Keep in mind there are other ways of doing this, it is just the one that works for me. Give it a look and let me know if it makes sense. Sorry for the amateur video, but I haven't done this much before.

edit: I said in the video I use an “iPhone to upload”, I should have said I use one email account (Mac mail) on my phone to send size adjusted pictures to another email account. It can be the same account, the only reason I do this is to re-size the pictures.
