What did you use for alternate seats in place of the kit seats. I'm in the planning stages and looking for what fits and how they look in the car. If anyone has interior pics that would be great.

DB,

I have some aircraft seats in my HR that look great. I can't take a pic now because I am away but will be back on 1 Oct. Others have done bench seats that look great (Olli and Gary Cheney). Do a search on the other forum for seats in the 33 section and you should find pics.

Doughboy, I've done some EXTENSIVE research on seats that will fit the Hot Rod and they range between FEW and NONE! That is, if you don't modify the tranny tunnel, driveshaft hoop, AND cover.

For those who have done this, you can make some larger fiberglass seats fit but the majority are well over 20" at the base. Really the only affordable and practical drop in option are the aluminum seats such as the Kirkeys which are strong enough that they don't need rolled outer edges like the fiberglass seats have. While sparco and others have race seats made of fiberglass, they are about 17" wide internally at the waist and unless you are a size 32" waist in pants, you might get in but you ain't gettin out! Sparco had one set of awesome seats for the lotus Elise but they will only sell to Lotus owners due to the fact that they made them so narrow and flimsy, they have to bolt to a specific part of the car for structural rigidity!

I tried for a few months to investigate a lot of custom seats and most everything that will fit or be made to fit will be $700 and over per seat. So, I will probably just go with this one when I need it. For now, I'm actually really liking the roadster seats and I didn't think I would. They are comfy, easy to get in and out of, and drop right in! And they soften the blow of an otherwise stiff riding machine. Good luck.

I agree, at first I wasn't sure how the roadster seats would work out and they didn't scream "hot rod" to me. But after riding on them for a while, I like them and the waterfall helps make them look like they belong there.
