Hi Group!
While I am waiting for other parts that are holding up my build (MKIV). I am going to start in the body. I have read tons of stuff about this - but now it's time to step up to the plate.
What is the best method for working on the parting lines? I know what I have read - but taking a disk grinder to the body - well kind of makes me nervous....
Suggestions? Experiences? Fillers?
Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

Use a DA with 80 or 100 grit to knock down the parting lines.
Read my Mk4 bodywork & paint thread (http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/266792-mk4-bodywork-thread.html) and Scott's posts documenting the prep and paint of his Mk3 (http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/230701-started-body-work-6583-a.html).
Before beginning any work on the body be sure to clean it to remove all mold release wax (details are in post #11 of my thread).
Hit us up here with any questions and good luck!

Thanks!
What did you use as filler? I am considering 3M HSRF. Looks like Rage Gold is easier to sand.
Any Thoughts?

HSRF is for repairs and bonding, not shaping. It is tough stuff but does not sand easily. Rage Gold for shaping and filling.

As I run tape along the seems - as suggested by replies - how far away from the seems should I space the masking tape?
Thanks!

I did 3/4 to 1 inch on each side.

Generally taping along the seams is only done prior to filling with HSRF when they have been ground out to remove gelcoat contamination in Mk3 and earlier bodies. Mk4 bodies have not shown a problem with gelcoat in the parting lines so HSRF is not necessary to strengthen the areas that had to be ground out therefore taping is a moot point.
