alas, to my chagrin - the epowersteering setup will not work with my Coyote setup :( really bummed as I wanted to try something a bit different from the usual - but looks like I'm going with hydro steering now
assuming the simplest way is to order the 16473 - 5.0L Coyote power steering kit from FFR
but are there custom items in that kit? or just the KRC setup and power rack with cables?
ultimately it's probably simpler to just order the pre-done kit...
thoughts? options? other ideas?
also, I will be adding A/C as well so bracketry and space need to be considered there as well...

Not sure I'd recommend it for a Coyote (at least not for the same reason I chose to go that way), but if you really want something different you could look into a Fast Freddie's electro/hydraulic setup. I wanted to retain the traditional look on the front of a old-fashioned pushrod motor (water pump and alternator only), so went with electro/hydraulic because it allowed me to mostly hide all the components. Except for the fluid reservoir, it's kinda hard to even tell that the car has power steering.
Pluses: most componentry mounted out of sight, no need to change the front dress on the motor, level of boost is adjustable at the pump with no add-ons required (no Heidts valve), power assist is available with key on but engine off
Minuses: pump is somewhat noisy (although inaudible with the engine running), may be more expensive that standard pulley-driven setup
Not a great picture but hopefully helps to illustrate. PS reservoir is on the driver's side F-panel; PS pump is mounted down low on the frame, to the driver's side of the battery. Hoses are mostly obscured.

Thanks Karl - I reached out to Fred, but his mailbox is full :(
either way it's about a $1200-1400 option with the KRC or FF setup...
Just get a Toyota mr2 spyder electric pump. Easy.

The Factory Five Coyote power steering kit uses the KRC 66302125 setup. KRC Ford Coyote Engine Pulley Kit with Elite Series Pump. Add to that the PS rack and hoses. You can buy the KRC setup direct from KRC or Summit (what I did for my Coupe) and supply your own rack and hoses. I wanted the Unisteer rack from Breeze which is arguably better than the one Factory Five supplies. Unfortunately, he's not offering them any more. You can use a Fox body Mustang rack from your local part store. But you'll need to add the rack extenders already on the Factory Five kit. Only complaint I've heard about the Factory Five PS kit is the hoses. Kind of generic and a universal fit. I made up hoses with SS flex and AN fittings from Breeze. One other point. Highly recommend changing out the standard flow valve on the KRC pump to their 25304000 ID-4 piece. The stock valve will feel overboosted. A KRC setup isn't cheap. But it's very high quality and I'm on my second build using it. Highly recommended. Oh and nothing about it interferes with the A/C pump in the stock location. Have that in my Coupe too. All good.

I used Fast Freddies setup in my #7750 build. I liked it OK. But with a Coyote, the KRC setup is similar if not slightly less cost. Yes, the EHPS setup saves a few HP from the engine. But doubt you'll notice. Yes, you can find the appropriate Toyota MR2 pump and do it yourself. But unless you go salvage, won't be much cheaper than Freddies that uses a new pump (likely reman, but that's OK) and also includes the mounting bracket, reservoir, all the hoses and connectors, all the wires, HD relay and circuit breaker. Not insignificant if you sourced all that yourself.

got a response from Fred! :)
Our system has been used on all kinds of crazy projects and has been particularly popular with the Coyote crowd. The pump can be mounted anywhere, literally. Some have hidden them in the trunk!. Most mount low in the right front corner for weight balance but it can go anywhere in any orientation. It is a very popular system and we have never had a complaint.
It will power any hydraulic rack. We have had lots of experience with them all and strangely Autozone is the best. Most of the expensive aftermarket racks leak or are at best as good as Autozone's $80.00 rack.
The most popular for the street is the standard ratio 2.5-1 rack it is part # 6439 (https://www.autozone.com/suspension-steering-tire-and-wheel/rack-pinion?filterByKeyWord=6439&fromString=search&isIgnoreVehicle=false&isSearchByPartNumber=true).
For sportier stuff like autocross or track the quicker GT rack is what everyone uses, that's what I've always used but it is pretty quick. Part # 64163 (https://www.autozone.com/suspension-steering-tire-and-wheel/rack-pinion/endurance-remanufactured-rack-pinion-64163/261058_0_0?&searchText=64163).
from what I can see only the sport rack is available currently...
looks like ~$1450 for the FF setup
what's the price on the FFR KRC? I know as part of the kit order it shows as + $1,050 (over the manual rack) + $289 (stated manual rack price) so ~$1,339 for the FFR kit (probably close)

You can buy the parts separately for less than that, as I described before. This is the parts list, with better hoses than the ones FFR provides.
KRC Coyote kit and smaller spool valve (not included with the FFR kit BTW) reference previously
PS SS flex hoses, connectors, rack -AN adapters. One stop shopping at Breeze
PS Fox body rack from local parts store
Rack extenders from FFR. Or ask on the forum. Guys often have those laying around
You might want to think about an in-line cooler. Not very expensive for a small one and a couple additional connectors

awesome thanks Paul! Will do more research :)

Read this before you decide on a rack. The SN95 racks are much improved over the Fox racks.
https://www.maximummotorsports.com/Steering-Rack-SN95-to-Fox-swap.aspx
I have an AGR rack which is equivalent of a Cobra-R rack, which were even better. Unobtanium as far as a factory R rack goes. They were all snapped up years ago. I did get a leak on one of the on-rack lines. Fixed with hose and fittings from Breeze.
If you do go to Autozone, make sure that the ratio is what the box says it is. I have seen several threads where they are incorrectly labeled.

will check that out - looks like the rack itself is $495, assuming the rack extenders will work?

If you use an SN95 rack you need to match the inner tie rods to the outers; SN95 is metric, Fox is SAE. If you want to use Fox outers you'll need to change the inners and vice versa. In either case you'll need to install the rack extenders. Additionally, to use the SN95 rack you will need the 14556 pyramid style steering shaft adapter.

I was needing to do the research on this issue. My steering is so sensitive I change lanes by thinking about it. Thanks for the part number (25304000), Paul.
