All, couple of question on some of the provided bellhousing hardware.
1) Are these required?
2) What purpose do they serve?

I attempted to highlight the parts in question, I hope it shows up okay.

Not needed as stated above. The critical part is make sure you use the correct centering ring (items 7&8). Put Them on the transmission pilot to find out what one you need. This is critical as only one fits correctly.

Awesome. Thanks! I assumed as much, but didn't look at the diagram until after I installed the thing. Had that sick feeling that the engine might be coming out again.

You may need them, depending on which type of throwout arm you have. I believe early Ford used something like that before 'ball stud" type pivots.

Thanks Rich. I am using the ball stud style.

Then they are 'spare parts'.

I recommend getting the offset dowel pins to aid in aligning your bellhousing. Critically important for pilot bearing life and vibrations. Ask me how I know.

Ditto for what Scott said above. American powertrain has a video on the subject. If your TKO develops a problem with the prop shaft bearing and you didn't dial indicate the bellhousing and use offset dowel pins your warranty is voided.

I agree but usually with the Quick time housings offset dowels are not needed. If you checked the run out with regular dowels and your run out is with in spec your fine as most people are. If not then order what you need as you won’t know till you measure. Checking is non optional if you want the trans to not kill a input bearing. If you put the motor in and didn’t check it do your self a favor and pull it and check it.

All, I did check the runout and was very surprised. It was well within the documented spec. I expected to fight with it, but it was a real quick install. I wish I had written the numbers down though so I could share them.

The alignment dowels WILL LIKELY be needed if your engine block has been line bored. The process of line boring the main journals ensures that the center of the crankshaft is offset from the center of the bellhousing attachment. DON'T ASSUME alignment is within spec, check it or have a shop that knows how do this for you. Your QT scatter shield may be concentric but a line bored engine will not be.
