I am planning to change the color of my lower control arm.

My first option is to mask the ball joint and remove the rubber bushings. Blast and cerakote. My concern is the temperature of the oven. The entire part will sit in the oven for 2 hours at 175 degrees. Will this effect the ball joint.

My second option is to disassemble the lower control arm. From what I have read in the forums is that the ball joint is difficult to remove and when replaced does not fit as tight. Is there a replacement ball joint and boot? If so where do I get it and what are the part numbers?

Please let me know what you all think is the best solution. I would prefer my first option but I am afraid it will degrade the ball joint. If there is another solution please feel free to let me know.

Thanks,

Jimmy

175* will not damage anything, but most likely will 'melt' most of the grease out of the ball joint. Hang them stud down with some tinfoil under them to catch the grease.
