So about 2 days ago i began tackling the install of the doors. Not gonna lie, it was nervous with the required cutting.

I started with the passenger side first. Cutting the opening actually went very well and fitted on the door frame quite easily. Was really impressed with the way the door hugged the frame.
you new that it was set in correctly.

it took a long time to get it to fit in correctly for now on the passenger side. i was probably getting to picky for now. But there was quite a bit of sanding. Pleased the way it sits now. and the way that it closes and opens is awesome. really impressed. Gaps were good, front of the door is out a little but the pontoons are not set yet.
it took me 8 hours roughly. ( yes lots of sanding.)

So onto the left. Read here on the board how going to the second door usually takes half of the time. OMG, not this case at all lolol
I had posted before how i was wondering during my cowl install if the person from Factory Five was on the bubbly when cutting my hood. Really gave me a lot of extra unneeded work. here is a pic

Well that same person who did my cowl, must of had alittle more bubbly and trimmed my driver side door. Seriously lol, mold lines are really clearly visible all the way around. Am i the only lucky one with my #50 Gen to receive doors or cowls like this. Stressful to say the least. here are some oics of the door before i tackle this.

I had to trim my doors and cowl about 1/8 to 1/4 inch all around

Not sure if I've said this to you. But have to many others. Strongly recommend fitting the doors last. Get the body where you think it belongs. I found the method described in the instructions for the rear mounts (centered, dimensions given, etc.) were dead on. But then IMO start working on the cowl and pontoons. That will in turn help you find the best location for the front of the body. That bad gap on the cowl may be OK or not. I'd have the cowl hinged and latching, along with the aluminum pieces that anchor the pontoons, mocked up before doing too much with the doors. You'll find a lot of interaction between all the pieces. I have a huge surprise with I thought were perfect fitting doors. But then finished the cowl and latches and things changed. I'm happy with how mine turned out. But my number one regret is I got the door gaps a little too wide. Because I didn't know enough to follow this sequence.

Yes, i am definitely following your advise. The body is mounted and centered. cowl is hung. I do regret trimming it big time but hopefully it will work out in the end. After the driver side door is mounted, i will go after the pontoons and cowl. Then dial it all in. that will be the fun part lol. well close enough for body work where the rest will be done.

I can see myself gluing the piece that i cut off of the cowl using HSF to get me back to original measurement and sanding to get right gaps.

my doors were same as yours but crowl not that bad ,i will have to agree that you should do pontoons at same time as doors since it all works together
to get best fit on mine as far as nose doors ect also the roll bar on passenger side is way closer to window opening on passenger side that it is on driver side
about 5/16 to almost 3/8 . how does your look ?
also when you mount side pipes dont count on using brackets as sent .i have my pipes real close to same from body line on both sides within fat 1/16
had to cut 1/2 " off driver side mount bracket and passenger side abot 1 1/4" so body is not same from side to side just keep this in mind .

I'm not sure where you measured from for the roll bar but i measured mine from close to the front window. mine is 3/8 on passenger side and 5/16 on the driver side. thats close enough lolol.
I found that once i got my doors as close as i could get them for now, my cowl fit better. not great but better.

my problem now is the cowl shocks pushing away the hood creating a bigger gap.

I had the same problem. I found the guide pins and receptacles on the front of the pontoons solved that. Get the cowl lined up with the pins/receptacles in place and the gas struts removed. Then put the struts back on. You may have to push the cowl back slightly to engage the pins, but it will go right back where it's supposed to.

That looks 10X better than my Gen-2 Type 65. Normal body work, IMO.
