Hi everyone,

Just a little introduction. My name is Chris, I'm 49 years old and live in Truro, Cornwall in the United Kingdom. I have had many modified cars throuout my life but have only ever built one Kitcar which was a Ferrari F430 Spider replica, based on a MR2 Spider with a Lexus RX300 3.0 V6 motor.

I'm a 22 year military veteran; when I retired from the Army I trained as a boat builder. I now teach both traditional and modern wooden boatbuilding and composites at Falmouth Marine School here in Cornwall.

I'm hoping to build another car in the future and the 33 Hotrod would be my car of choice.

I'm now gonna spend a lot of time reading all the posts and build threads here, as I did before building my F430 replica; time that I felt was very well spent, drawing on other builder's experiences. I've hopefully attached a couple photos of my last build; I hope you like it.

Cheers for now,

Chris.125357125358125359

That's a nice kit. There was probably (maybe?) more fabrication involved in that than there is in building a Factory Five. But with FFR you are building a whole car; it's much more than a body kit.

Anyway, welcome to the forum! Feel free to ask as many questions as you can think of, folks here love to help the new guys learn and gain confidence.

Thanks David. The thing I really like about the 33 is the Hotrod look on a performance chassis; the challenge of building from the ground up is just an added bonus.

Hello Chris, that's a fine looking build! I see you're from Donald Healey's hometown, besides the 289 Cobra, I also have a 61 Healey 3000 as well as a 58 Frogeye with roots there.
Enjoy the forum and your build!

Hi Pete, yes indeed Healey's Cider farm is not far from me at all and as a Boatbuilder I am also a fan of the lesser known Healey boats. It will be a while til I build another car, but wanted to get involved with this forum well in advance and do my homework.
