Does anyone know if GM's LS9 engine found in the ZR1 will fit in the GTM Gen 2? If so, is it a drop in and bolt on, or are modifications in order? I was looking in Kit Car magazine and it showed the LS9 as an available crate engine and it certainly got the wheels turning in thinking what kind of beast an LS9 powered GTM would be like!

LS9 will not fit because the manifold can not be turned around. Besides, the LS9 is rated at 690 HP and a good stroker LS2 with LS3 top end should get you 600++ at less than half the cost.

I seriously looked at LS9 also, but it's just not worth it, even though it will fit in my highly modified chassis.

I can not say beyond a shadow of a doubt that it will "bolt" in. I'll let others who know the motor, talk about that.

22K is a lot for a motor...

A word of caution.... With a S/C the hp/TQ is always there (at the respective RPM). With how light these cars are it'll take some seat time to understand how the car will react. There will be no quick down shifting action without the possibility of going sideways. IT'll be very tempermental and might not be fun to drive depending on how you drive. I'm not saying don't do it, just tossing out there that the S/C will give you one hell of a ride and if you are not prepaired for it, you might end up with a wrecked GTM.

That would be a bad thing for sure! Thanks for the info!

The LS9 is also set up for a double disc clutch system.
Bolting it up to current Transaxle options will take some custom work.
We have already started work on a 11" single for the LS9 package to SDR for a customer.

i am definitely no expert about the gtm or ls series engines, but there is something about someone using either an ls9 or another supercharged engine and it seems to work, but it took a bunch of extra labor and modification.
