I purchased turn signals switches from Watson StreetWorks and now that I finally got the correct wiring instructions I have a question someone might be able to help me with. The wiring diagram shows hooking the brake light switch wires to the relay along with the turn signal wires. I realize I’m extremely challenged with wiring but I can’t figure out why I would incorporate the brake light wires with my turn signals? The only thing I can think of is if your brake lights also served as your turn signal. From my understanding the Mk4 turn signals are separate from the brake light and if that’s the case what should I do with this wire? Should I just splice it and combine it with the turn signal wire? Thanks so much in advance for any help you all can help me with.

I believe what you will be doing is connecting this system only to the lights that are your turn signal lights and your brake and tail lights will be wired separate with your RF harness as if you did not have this system installed at all.

That’s what I thought I just don’t know what to do with the wire they want me to connect to the brake light switch? Should I just splice it in with the turn signal wire or cap it off?

I'd guess just cap it off...

Don't hold me to this but, IF you are using the newer supplied single tail light assembly (rectangular), then you only have one bulb (or LED array) to do double duty, Brake AND Turn Signal. The module will "know" when you step on the brakes and IF you have a side selected for turn signal at the same time, cancel brake function to that side only, allowing the light to blink.

IF you are using the older upper and lower type arrangement in the rear, no need for any module at all, brake lamps are completely separated from turn signal in the harness. IF you decide to tie the upper and lower together, then you'll need the module to do the separation as the system will see the rears as just one element.

Clear as mud, right?

Good call Doc, I had forgotten that the 25th cars have the different tail lights.

Thanks to both of you. I just checked and I have the old round lights with a separate brake and turn signal. Thanks Big Blocker You did make this clear as mud. I guess my question is now I’ve installed the module and soldered all the wires will it make any difference if I leave it? If so I would guess I should probably wire the brake light switch anyway even though it won’t do anything?

IF you don't wire the brake light switch, you won't have any brake lights - how else would they know to come on?
If you are talking about connecting it to the TS module, pretty sure you don't need to as the TS circuit will be completely isolated from your brake light circuit - no integration needed.
