Does anyone have an opinion about the hood pin set in the roadster kit? I really don't know why it was included in the build (MK III). I can't find one example in a "Cobra" book I have that covers the subject pretty well. I see them on Mustangs, of course. I have not been able to figure out a good reason for them being there. Has it been discontinued? I would not use them. Thanks, WEK.

WEK,
You don't need them with the hinges. I had painted the bracket before I found the hinges, but the they would be in the same location as the hinge bracket.

As said above, you only need them if you don't use hinges. It's just a cheap way to keep the hood on if you don't upgrade, and comes in the kit even if you do order the F5 hinges. I sent them to my son for use on his Mustang.

They are needed if you don't use hinges. Additionally, some people like the look and use them even though they have hinges.

I thought about using hood pins for a while, but not for a very long while. Before I bought my MKII kit in 2004, I drove an acquaintance's car and he had used hood pins. I hefted his hood and determined right then and there I wouldn't use that system: didn't want to bugger up either the hood edges or the bodywork around the engine bay. I didn't want to have to lift my hood off the car each time I wanted to access the engine either. All of the historic photos of the original cars, race or street, had the pivot handles at the driver's end of the hood I noticed. Using handles and hood pins together never made sense to me, since the hood handles lock, but the pins defeat that function. Other builders have other opinions about this I am sure, since I have seen several of these cars with pins.
