I have the motor mounted on the top of the passenger foot box under the cowl, the wiper drive is to the rear of the car.

I didn't use the Factory Five wiper setup in my Coupe. Instead a Specialty Power Windows WWK2 system. But I've installed the Factory Five Lucas version in several Roadsters. So very familiar with it, and the one I put in my Coupe is very similar. With the flexible drive cable, you can mount the motor/gearbox pretty much anywhere you have room. I've always mounted it on the firewall. But could be on the footbox too. Once you determine the location, just bend the outer tube to line up with the first wheelbox and feed the drive cable through. Just don't get crazy with sharp bends and you'll be fine. FWIW, this is where the motor is on my Coupe. On the firewall just inside the firewall extensions. Also the wheelboxes.

well that seems to be only place to mount just doesnt seem like the .040 alum would be strong enough

It's probably fine. But I do add a backer plate on the inside of the firewall. Roughly the size of the wiper motor. Then bolt through both layers. Has always worked fine. Keep in mind the firewall seems a little flimsy if your body isn't on yet. Once it's supported from both the top and bottom, it's quite a bit stiffer.

thanks for input ,mine had to bolt to top of foot box and i added angle brace under bottom to make little stronger, the wiper setup you have may have been better choice ,i just went with ffr at time of order
