View Full Version : Planning a visit to Factory Five
I plan to be in Boston in May and wanted to take a weekend to head down to visit the Factory and Cape Cod/Marthas Vineyard area.
I have never been to that area, so any recommendations on where to stay, what to do and best way to get around would be appreciated. My FFR visit will only be a small part of the weekend.

Call Factory Five to find out the name of the hotel that is a short distance from them. They have a corporate rate deal with them that you can get.
From there you can just about get to any item on the to see list, Cape Cod etc.

Hey, I'm going to be in Boston in May for my daughter's graduation! I'm planning to swing by the showroom while we're doing tourist stuff. Maybe stop by and shake Mike Forte's hand, too. We're staying not far from the JFK presidential library so it will be a bit of a drive down to Wareham.

This might not top a lot of peoples lists but if museums and or the sea interest you I highly recommend the New Bedford Whaling Museum followed by any local restaurant down the hill near the wharf for dinner and order scallops. https://www.whalingmuseum.org/

Just a couple exits away are the Wrentham outlets if you want to do some shopping. Also if your looking for a place to eat try The Red Rooster which is down the street from Gillett stadium. It's a small Irish pub with fantastic food.

When you're in downtown Boston....go to Bova's. Best cannoli ever!

If you want to shake mike forte’s hand, be aware that he’s only in the shop on weekdays.

There's also Sullivan's at Castle Island in Southie. Not far from where you are staying. A bit pricey, but you can experience some of the local culcha (culture).

That is the opposite direction he is going! Only a few miles from me but 90 from Logan.
When we visit Boston we stay in Copley Square area and walk to the restaurants we like. One is Piattini in Newbury Street but there are a lot of others. Looking for a good late night sweet or coffee/tea we have hit L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates on Clarendon Street. It has sinful stuff and is open late, 10pm Thurs-Sat. We go there usually for a late night tea more than the desserts but have tried them and yes they are good.

I stayed at the TownPlace Suites when I went to FFR. its right off the interstate, a mile or so from FFR, and was pretty reasonably priced. I think I paid $122 out the door for a nice Queen bed room. restaurant across the parking lot of hotel (although I didn't eat there)
Corona virus scares just cancelled the reason I was heading to Boston, but hopefully I'll still make it at some other point.

FFR Open House June 20th is a good reason to go for a visit.

Yeah, daughter's graduation is likely cancelled, too. Still plan to travel though, got to get her packed up and headed home. After seeing SeaTac airport today as I sent her back after spring break, there's going to be a lot of plane seats available.
