Hey Guys,
I need some pictures of the 3 link rear suspension, helping some of the guys with a "Intrusion Bar" set up, and I need to see how much the 3 link differs from a IRS car, which I already have the design for. A picture from the drivers & passengers interior side, looking rearward(bare frame). Each wheels view of the forward mounting point of the lower links. Thanks!!

Not great pictures but will give you the idea. The only tricky part is putting it through the frame on the drivers side as it didn't seem like the logical place to go.

I also have the extra support bracket from the Mapstones (and igore the clamp - that lasted about an hour)

It's nice to see other 3 bar set-ups. John Dol in your last picture you are pointing to where the cable bolts to the rear end...I have a 3 bar set-up and do not have those cables. I'm wondering if I need to go back through my boxes...are those cables (I know what they are for) standard issue???
Thanks,
Bob

Bob,
They should be as far as I know. They came with mine and that was a base kit.
Happy hunting

John,
I spoke with Dan at FFR today and he said the straps/cables what ever you call them are not necessary on the 3 link set- up. Just FYI.
Thanks,

That's weird because others have mentioned that the drive shaft will bind under full suspension droop. Read "when your racing down the streets of San Fran and make jumps over the top of the hills and your wheels are fully airbourne and ....."

I'm not sure my rearend from Mosier (purchased through FFR) would have a bracket to where I could bold the cable to....I guess it just means no flying for me. :( Right now with jack stands under the frame the rearend drops down as far as the shocks will allow.

But do you want your shocks to be the limiting factor on droop? Not me. I'd use the cables anyway.

Good point, I will order those cables and make my own lower connection point.

I have an e-mail from FFR, telling me to use them with my three link set up, as the newer Koni shocks are longer than the previously supplied Bilstiens. Seems FFR can't even decide amongst themselves..lol
Varying opinions on this subject.
Many just don't bother with them, though the rear end will hit on the 3 link frame, that sits under the axle housing on the LH side, when the car is jacked up (or perhaps if the car gets airborne..)
Some use only one strap mounted near the pumpkin, then to the 2x3" frame. This could prevent the handling issues in extreme cornering, if the strap suddenly comes up tight..
I mounted my straps same as John did. No issues. FFR should send you a set N/C, or I have heard you can use tailgate straps from a pick up truck.

I called FFR and suggested they come in on this thread. The lastest I have is that with the Koni coil overs the axle straps are not necessary........By the way they are $12.00 for the pair plus shipping.

Bob,
That may be the purchase that's going to blow the budget!:D

The driveshaft is so short that with the rear suspension at full droop the universal joints bind. You don't want this happening at speed!!! I set mine up so that the cables were taut an inch or so before the universals bind. I just happened to discover this when I installed the driveshaft (after all of the rear suspension was installed and in place) and was trying to turn it to get the ratchet on the bolts and it wouldn't turn. I thought I had it in gear and crawled out to check and it wasn't. So I started to jack up the pumpkin and at a certain point I could freely turn the shaft. Sooo Beware.

Good point, I'm not far enough along to run into that, but I will look for that when I get there.
Thanks.
