Hi everyone,
In the continuing saga of my IRS diff clanking noise, with more light and care I discovered that the driveshaft U-joint to adapter bolts ARE too long! Two of the bolts were snugged down but two were standing proud about 1/32 to 1/16". These are the M10x25mm SHCS. I will look for shorter ones, but if they don't exist, I will grind them down as suggested. Factory Five should put out a warning tech note!
Thanks to this forum I have found the solution to my problem. Yea for our team!!
Thankfully,
Jeff

I had the same common experience.
This is all I had to grind down for perfect fit.

There should be 4 of the driveshaft bolts that are 20mm and 10 of the 25mm ones (because some of the yokes are thicker), they look very similar and can get switched when bolting the adapter down to the pinion. Check the ones holding the adapter in place but if you don't have the short ones shoot me an email and I can get em out to you. Jim(at)factoryfive(dot)com

Hi Jim,
Yeah, I used the 4 leftover 25mm bolts instead of the correct 20mm bolts. I have 4 M10x20mm bolts in my "lefrovers". Thank you for your posting.
However, the manual doesn't specify what size bolt to use with the IRS and Tremec TKO600. I now understand why there are two sizes. The driveshaft flange could differ depending on application. I just chose the wrong ones. My mistake. Glad we were able to catch it.
Thank you again for clearing this up.
Jeff
