Having most people had to trim the hood so that it doesn't sit about 1/2" proud of the fenders?

Yeah.
I used an angle grinder with a zip blade, then used a barrel sander attachment on a drill to sand it down smooth. I think a 1.5 or 2.0 in diameter worked great for most of it and smaller diameter when trimming some of the other cut-out holes and small radius's. Then I sanded with a block and sandpaper to get it super straight.

The rest of the body is sketchy as well. If you cut too much off the lip, the hood could become floppy. Personally, I’m leaving mine a bit proud of the fenders. There are so many incongruous body lines that I don’t think the hood will be a talking point. It’s just another feature line.

the last few days have been "colorful" in the garage as we try to line stuff up... Looks close but the mounting points on the upper front fender near the glass are about 1/2" different from each other. going to focus on doors tomorrow before we make any additional tweaks to the fenders, a-pillars, etc...

5 years ago I slapped the hood on without trimming because racecar. Today the hood still needs trimming.
