Hi
I am attempting to replace the brake pads that came with the kit with Hawk hp plus.
I built a mk4 roadster with 2015 irs.
The pads that came with the car don’t look like the hawk hp plus HB774 N.660 pads that I bought to replace my rear pads.
When I do a look up it says these are the right pads. The top one is the original.
Thanks

I just called FFV and found out the rear brakes are from a 87-88 Thunderbird.
After looking. I can’t seem to find hp plus for the rear, they have other street compounds but not hp plus. Can I put 2 different compound pads on the car? The more aggressive will be on the front and that makes sense.

Porterfield makes rear pads for the Thunderbird.

If the pad combination gives you what you want, there's no problem using different compounds front to back. You can have different disc sizes, number of pistons, and pad material front to rear. Just make sure the combo works for you. My 1st-gen CTS-V actually has larger discs in the rear, but the overall package works great. It'll drop your eyeballs into your lab on a panic stop.

The 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra along with the 1989-92 Taurus SHO used the same rear pads as the T-Bird. I used the Taurus SHO to look up the number and got 4 different pad selections. The page even returned the listing as Ford, Factory 5.

I ordered the hawk HB580F.62 for the rear. They are the HPS formula.

You will have way too much front brake. HPS front and HP+ rear is usually a good combination. Another option would be the OE pads, rotors etc that came w/ an IRS Mustang. When I upgraded to IRS on my old MkII, I bought an IRS takeout complete rear suspension and I got the OE brakes and used them. HP+ are available for that caliper.

The HPS 5.0 has very comparable charactaristics to the HPS+. Advantage of the street pad, the HPS 5.0, is the optimal operating temp starts lower.
