While still contemplating the doors and door latches, I am pondering the seats. I have the Kirky high back racing jobs, Simpson belts and the FFR shoulder belt bar. (Must admit, not crazy about these seats but do want the high back with 5 point harnesses) How and where to mount the seats and belts? What method to mount the seats? I have the Kirky brackets but they are too short to mount to the x on the floor/frame. When sitting in the seats, they seem very low, difficult to see over the dash but not a lot of room to go up or they will be higher than the roll bar. (roof is not mounted yet) Help and old guy out, pictures maybe??

Thanks,

Robert.

I just did this in a customers car. we made up large floor plates that were 3/16 thick. They were roughly the size of the current floor. We then attached the seats and lap belts to these plates. The thickness and size gave a very rugged and strong mount for the belts and seats.

How did you mount the plate to the frame?

Robert,
I am 6' and my son is 6'3" so we required the seats to be mounted flat on the floor without brackets to get low enough. Here is a go-kart picture. 123286

What kind of plate did you use. It comes in many varieties.

Thanks.

Your pass her does not pass the broomstick test..they could die in a roll over. That being said...you appreciate farther along than I am in my build.

We installed a higher roll bar to make it safer for us.

Please excuse the dirty car.

123583 I welded in 2 2"X3/16 straps with nuts welded to the bottom of the strap to the chassis then bolted the side Kirkey mounts to the strap and the seat to the side mounts.123584

I welded in 2x1 bars on the 'x' s, then a 1/8" steel plate over that.

That gave the platform the seats were mounted to.

Used the Kirkey seat mounts and a 1/2" spacer under the driver seat. Gives enough clearance to hard top:
