I'm still maybe about 18 months away from ordering my kit, but I wanted to go ahead and get my drive train in the garage. What are everyone's recommendations for sourcing a Gen 3 Coyote with a TKO 600 and all the trimmings?

My first choice is always Mike Forte at Forte's Parts Connection.

I bought my Gen2 coyote from Mike, and he was great to work with.

I've read this multiple times, so he's top of the list. I'm just picking brains and seeing what other options *might* be out there. Thank you for the reply!

Face:Palm. Here I am just teeming with excitement to get started and this did not even cross my mind. Waiting is really no fun, but thank you for correcting my course. I'll hold off until I actually buy the kit because I've read there will be plenty more waiting once I do that. It looks like Mike Forte is who a lot of people use to source their power train.

My response is it depends. The Coyote and its related components are essentially commodity items. The engine and control pack, no matter who you buy them from, will likely be shipped from the Ford Performance distribution center in Michigan. So if you're comfortable buying the parts individually (they're well established) and putting it together yourself (not hard IMO) there's a little money to be saved by shopping around. Mike will assemble some/all of it. So will Factory Five, which is another source. But you will pay for that, and not every part might be the one you pick. You have time to do your homework and decide what works best for you. I also agree there's no point to buy until you have the kit. The warranty consideration is a valid one.

I ordered mine from Forte. His price was better the FFR. He assembled it and did a few other things required to fit in the Roadster.
I waited until my kit was delivered before I ordered the engine. Had no issues ordering it or the shipping/delivering of it.
Only complaint was one of the bolts holding the engine cover on was busted when I got it. Cover is ugly anyways.... So no big deal.

Purchased mine directly from Ford Performance. https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-6007-M50C
They supplied everything, Coyote gen 2, control pack, starter & alternator, TKO 600, Quicktime steel belhousing, clutch arm, etc...
NOTE: Coyote - 24 month warranty, as mentioned. TKO - 6 months warranty!

Excellent advice. I will start doing my research on buying from either Forte or Factory Five versus picking and choosing from different vendors. Thanks!

Thanks for the link! I assumed the warranty on the tranny would also be 2 years, but I guess not. Good info!

One other thought to add.. when I bought my Gen2 coyote from Mike, he mentioned that Ford Performance was going to be phasing out drop-shipping of engines and that if Mike had to pay for shipping from Ford to him and from him to the end user that might impact total cost to the end user. I have no idea if that ever came to be, but it's something to think about and confirm shipping prices and total cost when considering a third party vs. buying direct from Ford Performance.
