Hi everyone! I’m Scott (aka “Caveman”) from Seal Beach, Ca. Just joined the Factory Five Forum and am super excited to have a good reason to join. I’m the proud new owner of a partially built Mk2 427 Roadster! She’s a true dream car for me. She’s FFR3185K - a 2001 that’s currently about 90% complete and not yet driven (How do these things happen?). She’s equipped with a built Ford 347 small block with a cool EFI setup, a T5 trans, Ford 8.8 rear and disk brakes all around. Her body has the usual work left to complete (door, hood and trunk fitting plus paint) along with some minor interior work still outstanding. I’ve been prepping her for her first drive and will be channeling the prior owners and contributors as I do as they all had a hand in bringing her to life. I’ve already got some helpful info from this forum and will probably need a lot more before I’m done. Thanks to those who contribute and sustain the forum.:) Looking forward to the Huntington Beach Cruise-In coming up and maybe I’ll meet some of you there.

Pretty sure I know that car. Had an inquiry regarding the finishing of that car. Seems it's bounced around from owner to owner and each owner has punted rather than dealing with the work it needs to get finished and registered. Good luck with it.

I.e.427,
Thanks for the well wishes and some history. So far, I’m making good progress and she’s almost ready for a road trial and beginning the registration process. If you remember them, perhaps you would e willing to share your observations or additional info you know about the car.
Best Regards,
Caveman

If memory serves, the car is a 4-link setup, you're going to want to upgrade that for sure. We do have a 3-link kit for that car in stock so if you're interested? The second, and probably most important thing is that that car has limited paperwork. F5R does not have the original sales order because of the records purge that they had about the time of the model changeover from Mark2 to Mark3 and second the previous 2 owners of that car did not have receipts for the engine, trans and rear end. Those primary drivetrain parts are a requirement for DMV, along with the purchase receipt from the manufacturer (F5R). All of this can be overcome but it is going to take immense patience on your part because the CA DMV is a cluster **** when this type of registration is anything but standard. Lastly the car body is painted (kind of) but the doors, bonnet (hood) and trunk lid are raw fiberglass gelcoat. This means the entire car will need to be painted in order to make it whole. You're never going to match the paint on those panels to the body. My advise it to get Jeff Miller at Miller's Customs on board and have him work his magic. We will be at Huntington Beach ( both Jeff Miller and myself). Seek out the guy with the i.e.427 shirt. Crap, there may be more than one, we've given out a bunch of shirts. Ask most anyone on Main Street for Frank from i.e.427 and they'll point you in my direction. You can also PM me here or contact us through aur page.

Again, best of luck. I really like seeing a guy step up and finish one of these cars that have languished, unfinished for some time and getting them to the finish line.
