View Full Version : Install floors before engine and transmission?

I know the manual has the engine/trans being installed prior to the floors getting installed, but is there a reason for this? It seems to me that it would be easier to drill and rivet them without the engine/trans in the way. At the very least I think it would make sense to install the lower floor pieces first. Any thoughts on this?

leave the floor out until you have installed the exhaust system.

Thanks for the replies. Interesting that the manual has the exhaust being installed way after the floors! Of course yesterday I ripped out the power steering motor and shafts so I could run the front brake lines....

So OK to fit and drill the floor pieces and then install after the exhaust?

I installed floor / pan first, didn't cause any issues - no conflict with 347/tko crate engine install. just did exhaust sitting on jack stands
much easier than I expected; laid everything out first then my son rolled under the frame and bolted everything together as fast as I could hand him the parts
