Very interested to know how much of the stock Mustang wiring you are using. Looks to be quite a bit.

That is a wiring harness I get directly from Ford Performance. So a lot has been deleted already. I ordered one for a 6R80 Automatic. I will use everything except for about two connectors and three single wires.

how hard was the paint? I assume that's ford Lead foot color? I really like that color and was thinking painting my 33 that color.
Also like the Abyss grey.

We used NASON Xl which flows really nice and the colors are outstanding! The paint was not hard its always the bodywork that is the hardest. That's where we found a lot of waviness, imperfections, misalignment, poor bonding and transparent fiberglassed areas. Still was a lot easier than cutting out rotted sheet metal, patching and bodyworking an old classic!
Yes you are correct on the color.

what will you do on the inside surfaces?

I think your asking about the inner bed walls. So, my plan there is to clean them up and possibly buff to shine or give them a brushed finish.

Sorry, I meant the cab, wondering myself what to do there. Spray on Bed-liner or glue fabric, or flax like Tom Wallace.

Looking for ideas....

Oh ok, I'm getting ready to post some pics of what I've done so far. I'm installing heat shield and sound barrier i got from FFR. Also, going to install carpet and some headliner material.
That's the initial plan but you never know till its done!

Just some detail work that may or may not be seen but just had to accomplish the ideas that came to mind!
Brushed the aluminum gauge insert. Also, tooled and dyed the door and tailgate straps in USMC Black (SemperFi!)

Running a 6R80 trans so the Lokar shifter sits above the tunnel about 5-1/2". Made some mods to the tunnel for the cable and shifter to operate smoothly. Fabricated a console/armrest which will also house the switches for the power windows. Laid down some heat and sound barrier then some carpet. Wrapping the console in the same seat material.

Very nice job. Looks like FFR narrowed the rear of the tranny tunnel a lot since my early model. I had to narrow it about 2" to get it to fit in the seat tunnel.
Keep us updated on your progress.

Ken, we are both early kit owners, and I noticed in the latest Assembly Manual that a flocking kit is supplied. I just ask them to send me one.

Ralph,
Thanks for mentioning that flocking kit. FFR doesn't have a headliner or flocking kit on the inventory sheets. I was told that I should have received a flocking kit. Both my truck kits do not have one. I told FFR I did not receive one for either truck and asked if they could send them. Still no response!

How close in serial number are your two trucks?
Are there any noticeable differences between them?

And I have to ask....are you building a fleet?
LOL :)
Cheers,
Pat

I have an early truck, no. 15, and there was no headliner idea at the time. They must have changed things over time, and FFR emailed me yesterday saying that a Flocking Kit was on the way. I was pleasantly surprised by the response.

Not sure I haven't looked but I did order them on the same day.
They will be different as far as hood, grill, seat, powertrain and paint.

Maybe....129927 ;)
Take Care,

Hey GroundPounderSATX (or anyone reading this), did you apply any water/moisture protection to the bottom of the wood planks?

Thanks.

I'm doing mine with veneer on ply. I bolted my bed bottom down with button head screws which will keep an air gap between bed and wood but will be applying a heavy dose of polyurethane on it as well! I drilled multiple drain holes in the SS bed so it dose not pool water.

Yes, I used an oil based stain that's darker than the top. Also, its on top of the stainless steel sheet.

Tom Wallace prepared a thread on Flocking. See below, might be of use to folks.

https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?36374-Truck-interior-flock-steps&p=415783#post415783

I asked Tom how it was holding up:

"If you do it correctly it will not come off with a chisel. Mine looks as good as the day I did it. "
